It's the end of the world as we know it...

...and we're feeling kind of queasy if we're honest. Les Shaw is a researcher at the University of South Florida and he studies the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics. Most of us have only known a world where many infections can easily be treated with readily available treatments, but the rise of resistant bugs such as MRSA is frighteningly common and threatens to become a major health issue. How did we get here, and is there hope for us in the future? Listen in to find out more.

Our guest track this week is from fellow scientist John O'Leary and his album CRISPR is available from his bandcamp page. We hope you'll consider buying it not just because it's amazing, but because you would be supporting Alzheimer's research.

This episode was the last ever recorded at the New World Brewery as it was in Ybor City. We're sad to lose the place we consider our spiritual home, but look forward to seeing what amazing things they do at their new site. In the meanwhile we reminisce about being in our happy place.
